TOBIANO

Tobiano paint horses can be predominantly white or dark, but they typically have the following characteristics: 

  • Legs: Tobiano horses usually have white legs, at least below the hocks and knees. 
  • Head markings: Tobiano horses have solid-colored heads, or heads with a blaze, strip, star, or snip
  • Spots: Tobiano horses have regular, oval or round spots that extend down the neck and chest, giving the appearance of a shield. 
  • Flanks: Tobiano horses usually have a darker color on one or both flanks
  • Tail: Tobiano horses often have two-color tails
  • Mane: Tobiano Horses usually have two-colored manes.

OVERO


 Here are some characteristics of overo horses:

  • White markings: White markings are usually irregular and splashy, and often start on the belly or side of the horse and spread to the neck, legs, back, and tail.
  • Dark body: Overo horses often have a dark mane, tail, legs, and backline.
  • Bald or white face: Overo horses often have a bald or white face.
  • Subpatterns: There are three main subpatterns of overo: frame overo, splashed white, and sabino.
