Genetic Registration

 Tobianos, Overos & Tovero: Registered as:

 (R) Regular Registry

  •  Tobianos, Overos & Toveros applying for (R) must provide DNA verification. Genetic Testing
  • We do accept testing that was previously done  for APHA or Pinto



ATOA recognizes the following white-spotting genes for Permanent Registry consideration: 

  • Frame Overo (OLWS) 
  • Tobiano 
  • Sabino 1 
  • Splashed White 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8 
  • Dominant White 5, 10, 20, 22, 31, 32, 34, 35 

Testing must be conducted through an ATOA-approved lab; we work with all approved labs. 

Solid Paint (AQHA, APHA): Registered as: 

 (S) Solid

  • The horse must have Coat Color Pattern testing and genetic/DNA verification upon approval. 
  • Solids can be bred to registered ATOA Tobianos for their offspring to be eligible for registration with ATOA
